For apartment living, the first question is whether you can move and store the bike safely every day. Folding size answers only one part of that question. Complete weight, grip, stairs, turns, secure parking and permitted charging can matter more than wheel diameter.
Walk the whole storage route
Start outside the building and follow the path to the exact parking spot. Include security doors, ramps, steps, the lift entrance and the final turn into your home. Measure the narrowest clear opening with doors actually open. Check lift usable space, not just its advertised size.
- Record door clear width and thresholds.
- Measure landing width and the space available to turn.
- Count steps and note handrails that reduce carrying space.
- Measure the parking footprint, including handlebars and access for locking.
- Check building rules for bicycles, battery storage and charging.
Separate size from lifting weight
| Model or detail | Known | Still needs checking |
|---|---|---|
| XT90 | Nonfolding; approximately 29 kg | Your ability to move it; complete storage clearance |
| F6 Pro | Approximate folded size 69 × 32 × 52 cm | Complete weight, carrying grip and intended use permission |
| Other models | Different wheel and frame layouts | Complete weight and dimensions for the exact version |
| Removable battery | Listed for F6 Pro and X5 | Battery weight and whether removal makes handling practical |
Do not treat F6 Pro as lightweight because it folds. Do not estimate GT900 weight from XT90 or calculate carried weight by subtracting an unknown battery weight. Those would be guesses.
Test the storage clearance
Suppose your intended shelf space measures 75 × 40 × 60 cm. Against F6 Pro's approximate folded size of 69 × 32 × 52 cm, the nominal differences are 6, 8 and 8 cm. Those figures leave little room for fingers, locks, manufacturing variation or lifting into place. They do not establish that the bike can pass the doorway or turn onto the shelf.
This measurement example is hypothetical and cannot guarantee fit. Mark the footprint with tape and use lightweight cardboard to check the narrowest turn. Shape tests check clearance only; they cannot simulate balance or lifting the real bike. If handling is uncertain, arrange to see safe handling of the complete bike rather than testing with an improvised heavy load.
Where will charging happen?
If the bike can remain beside an approved charging socket, internal battery access may be workable. If secure parking has no power and the only socket is upstairs, routine battery removal may solve charging without solving bike storage. Read the removal and charger instructions for the exact version.
Keep exits and shared escape routes clear. Follow building rules and the battery instructions; do not assume hallway charging is allowed because the bike fits there. Never charge damaged equipment or improvise extension wiring.
When to rule out the purchase
Pause if every trip requires lifting more weight than you can safely control, shared storage is insecure, or no permitted charging location exists. For F6 Pro, the supplied 500 W version also needs its intended use and local rules checked; compact size is not proof of ordinary EU bicycle status.
