Cold weather can reduce usable electric bike range. Shorter distance on winter rides does not, by itself, prove battery damage. Start by comparing similar journeys and separating gradual range changes from electrical warning signs.

Compare journeys before comparing batteries

Wind, hills, cargo, tire condition and assistance use can change between trips. Winter clothing and more frequent stops can also change how you ride. Comparing one calm summer trip with one windy winter trip will not isolate battery condition.

Choose one familiar route with safe places to stop. Begin with the normal charging routine specified for your bike. Record the starting display reading, route, weather, assistance setting and ending reading. Repeat under similar conditions when possible. Do not deliberately run the battery empty to create test data.

What you notice What it could mean Useful next step
Gradually shorter range during colder journeys Temperature and route demand may be contributing Compare matched journeys and shorten the next trip until the pattern is clear
Lower range after fitting luggage or changing routes The energy demand has changed Record cargo, hills and assistance use alongside the weather
Sudden loss of assistance, repeated errors or unexpected shutdown This needs investigation beyond ordinary range planning Stop the trip safely and record the display message and conditions
Swelling, unusual heat, smell, smoke or visible battery damage Potential battery safety problem Stop using and charging the battery; move away and seek emergency help if there is smoke or fire

Make the return journey part of the plan

Plan the complete trip, including diversions, stops and the return. Start with short local rides before relying on winter range for work. Keep enough flexibility to turn back or use another way home. Do not assume the same remaining display bars always represent the same number of kilometres.

For example, suppose your workplace is 12 km away. The commute needs at least 24 km before errands or diversions. First test shorter journeys near home under comparable conditions. This example describes route planning, not predicted range for any ARSK model.

Match charging and storage to your actual battery

XT90 lists 960 Wh of nominal battery energy; GT900 and SU7 list 468 Wh. These are stored energy figures, not winter distance promises. F6 Pro and X5 have removable batteries; the listed internal batteries on other models must not be treated as packs intended for daily removal.

Use the supplied battery instructions for charging and storage conditions. After cold or wet exposure, follow those instructions before connecting the charger. Do not warm the pack with heaters, open its casing or borrow settings from another battery brand. Use only the supplied charger or an approved compatible replacement.

Keep this winter ride record

  • Model, wheel option and battery label details.
  • Date, route distance, hills, wind and approximate outdoor conditions.
  • Starting and ending display readings, assistance use and carried load.
  • Storage conditions, charging behaviour and any error message.
  • Whether the change appeared gradually or suddenly.

Send this record with your question if range changes remain unexplained. It gives support something useful to compare, rather than only reporting that the battery feels weaker.
